Michael McKee spent twenty years skippering his own motor launch, living aboard while
working on contract off the BC coast of Canada for the federal government departments of
Fisheries and Oceans, as well as Forestry and Parks departments. This work also included
captaining patrol boats for Fisheries and Oceans, monitoring commercial fishing.
Michael has been captain of motor yachts, both private, charter and corporate, since 1999.
During this time, he also worked for Princess Cruise Lines as a Chief Petty Officer in South
America, Caribbean, Panama, and trans Atlantic to Europe.
.Although most of Michael's experience on the water has been on power boats, he also
joined Marianne on their own sailboat for a trans Pacific voyage of 8,000 miles from Puerto
Vallarta to New Zealand in 2002.
Captain McKee currently holds a Canadian 350 ton license (issued in 1990), with a 3,000
ton STCW endorsement.
Marianne has been living and working on boats for almost 15 years, beginning on sailboats
in Europe, where she received her RYA sail training. Marianne has accumulated over
40,000 sea miles, from Europe to New Zealand. She has worked on private and charter sailboats and motor yachts for several years, as well as managing yacht clubs and resorts in Honduras and Guatemala.
Marianne has received training and worked for two years in Silver Service in London,
EnglandShe has also received chef training based on the Culinary Institute of America's
system, and Chief Stewardess Training in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. She currently holds
STCW-95 certificate.
In 1995 Marianne bought and skippered her own 39' sailboat, on which she cruised the
Caribbean and Central America single-handed for three years. She then began working on private motor yachts in 2001She met Mike in 2001, and together they sailed her boat across the Pacific to New Zealand in 2002
Maria started in the service industry working for five years at remote fishing camps on the northern coast of British Columbia. Since then she has spent 4 years as stewardess on motor and sailing yachts throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Her last commission was as Chief Stewardess on the 136' charter sailing yacht, the Marabella III.
