Tachyon Yacht Overview: Tachyon runs as a 'Captain Only' yacht. The yacht comes ready for charter with Captain Eric and all the on board equipment necessary. Guests provision the yacht with food and drinks (with some assistance from the Captain) and prepare their own meals (not included in the charter fee).
Tachyon (also a subatomic particle faster than the speed of light) is fun to sail and Jason & Bernadette know how to get her moving! Tachyon has been re-fitted in 2006 with fine bedding and tableware and is in overall exellent condition.
Tachyon is a 47-foot Robertson & Caine luxury blue-water sailing catamaran designed especially for luxury charter catamaran vacations. Built in 2001, the yacht accommodates up to six guests and two crew in comfort. She has 3 spacious guest staterooms, each with a queen size bed, private bathroom with shower, and both a hanging closet and enclosed shelves.
The salon area features comfortable seating for eight with either a coffee table or full size dinner table insert, and is perfect for sitting back and watching a DVD on the 24 inch flat-screen TV, playing one of many board games, a game of cards and more.
The large, U-shaped galley offers all the amenities needed to prepare gourmet cuisine, including an oven and 4-burner stove, large freezer, 2 refrigerators, Cuisinart, blender, coffee maker, and a microwave.
Air conditioning is available in every part of the boat. A generator powers the air conditioner, and there are three different units, one for the salon and galley, one for the forward staterooms and one for the aft staterooms. They can be run individually or all together. There are 26 hatches, custom window shades, and large double doors opening to the cockpit that all keep the boat cool and ventilated when the air conditioning is not in use.
The aft cockpit can be described as a huge back porch that can comfortably accommodate 10 or more people, and features a large, 8-person dining table, a propane grill and a 24-foot swim platform. The cockpit is an open design, which flows directly to the swim platform (no need to climb up and over seating or around lines and equipment) and allows for easy movement between both areas. A fully waterproof bimini top with removable side sunscreens and waterproof side panel's shelters the cockpit.
The bimini provides a shady, breezy environment that keeps the cockpit comfortable in the warm Caribbean sun, and dry in the event of rain. The cockpit also provides ample storage space for a host of fishing equipment and dive/snorkel gear, keeping it readily available but out of the way.
It's an easy walk on the wide, non-skid deck up to the bow of the boat where there are two large trampolines on which to sunbathe, take a nap, or just hang out and feel the trade wind breeze. In the evenings, pull out the deck chairs and watch the sunset on the bow while sipping a freshly made cocktail and enjoying the refreshing evening air. |
