As a native of the Gulf Coast area, Captain Stephen Ray began his education in boating at an early age, enjoying sailing and fishing on a variety of boats. Deciding to pursue a career on the water, Stephen earned his 100 Ton Master Captains license in 2004. After delivering several yachts to the Caribbean, Stephen fell in love with the islands and made the decision to become a full time charter yacht Captain.
Stephen enjoys racing and cruising aboard his own 30ft sailboat in his spare time, and loves to teach others to sail whenever he has an opportunity. Stephen also enjoys diving, and has a Rescue Diver certification.
Having completed over one hundred successful term charters, and many off shore deliveries, Stephen is highly professional and dedicated to his career as a Captain. Stephen knows the Virgin Islands inside and out. Exploring the must see spots, or places off the beaten path, Stephen is in his element when sharing his knowledge of the islands with Safari's guests!
Chef Julia grew up in Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes, and learned to love boating and sailing on frequent family outings. Julia first began visiting the Virgin Islands with her family more than 30 years ago, and has been making annual trips ever since. Her love for the islands led her to determine that one day she would make them her permanent home.
Growing up, Julia's family was passionate about cooking and instilled that passion in her. Julia worked in the restaurant and hospitality industries and had a catering business while earning degrees in both accounting and social work. Although she had a successful career in the corporate world, Julia left it all behind to realize her dream of living in the Virgin Islands.
Energetic and personable, Julia loves meeting and entertaining people. Julia's hobbies include running and swimming. She also spends much of her spare time in the kitchen, preparing and perfecting new recipes for friends and family to sample. Julia delights in spoiling Safari's guests with gourmet meals and tempting treats. She prepares a wide variety of meals, and especially enjoys highlighting local ingredients and cuisine. Special diets or food allergies are no problem. Julia takes much pride in her ability to tailor each meal to her guest's individual tastes!
